M.S. also acted in a few Tamil films in her youth. Her first movie “Sevasadanam” was released in 1938. MS Subbulakshmi also played the male role of Narada in “Savitri” which released in the year 1941 to raise money for launching Kalki, her husband’s nationalist Tamil weekly.
MS had a lasting impression on commoners through songs like ‘ Vaishnava Janato’ and Hari tum haro’. She was solely responsible for popularizing kritis of Annamacharya, the Vishnu Sahasranamam, Venkatesa Subrapatham and Kurai onrum illai, to name some of her songs.

Yamini Krishnamurthy was born in the year 1940 in Madanapalli, Andhra Pradesh, brought up in Chidambaram, Tamilnadu in a Telugu family.Yamini Krishnamurthy had been performing for more than four decades, and led an eventful life. Presently in her mid-60s, Yamini continues to be active. She imparts dance lessons to younger dancers at her institute, Yamini School of Dance, Hauz Khas.Through her alluring dance performances, Yamini popularized Kuchipudi all over the world. She received national and international appreciation for her dance. Yamini received the credit of being Asthana Nartaki Resident Dancer of the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam
Shoba Naidu
Padma shri Dr. Shobha Naidu is one of the famous kuchipudi dancer from Andhra Pradesh India; she mastered techniques of kuchipudi dance and began dancing lead roles in dance dramas. Shobha Naidu is excellent solo dancer.
Shobha Naidu is the principal of kuchipudi art academy, domalguda Hyderabad. She has been imparting training to younger students and choreographed several dance-dramas.
Padma Subramanyam
Padma subramanyam was born on 4th February, 1943 in Chennai.Dr. Padma Subramanyam is one of the most respected and reputed Bharatanatyam dancers of India.Padma subramanyam is currently the director of “Nrutyodaya”, which is a dance school that was founded by her father in the year 1942.
Padma Subramanyam never let her studies suffer because of her performances and busy schedule. She has got a Bachelor’s degree in Music, Master’s in Ethno Musicology and PHD in dance from Annamalai University. She has been a research scholar and has written a thesis on “Karanas in Indian dance and sculpture”.
